How we rank the offers

The order of the offers on EVL is set by the EVL-Score — a number from 0 to 100 that you control. You choose which parameters matter most to you, and the order you put them in decides how heavily each one weighs. This page shows which parameters are used, what they cover, and what the ranking does not tell you.

How your priorities are weighted

You rank the parameters yourself in the preferences panel. It is a weighting, not a filter: every offer is still there, it is just in a different order.

Your first priority weighs about twice as much as your second, and the weight tapers off down the list. The lowest priorities fine-tune the order, but they rarely decide it.

Some parameters measure much the same thing. On lease offers: Monthly cost, Total cost / month, Total lease cost. On purchase offers: Cash price, Monthly financing payment, APR. If you put several of them high, the highest-placed one counts in full and the rest count for considerably less. Otherwise the same consideration — price — would be counted several times over.

If you have not chosen an order yourself, we use a preselected one. You can change it at any time, and the ranking updates immediately.

Every parameter used in the ranking

Lease offers and purchase offers are ranked by separate lists, because the information available about them is not the same. The names below are the same ones you see in the preferences panel.

What the ranking does not cover

The ranking covers only the offers that are on EVL. It says something about the order of those offers — not about how they compare with the whole market. There are offers we do not have.

If we are missing a figure for a car, we do not skip the parameter: the car scores zero on that parameter. If you have put it high, that pushes the car down the order — even when the car in fact does well on it. Worth keeping in mind if a car sits lower than you expected.

Cars without a valid Euro NCAP rating cannot be ranked on safety and are therefore placed last when you prioritise safety. This does not mean they scored badly in a test.

How to change the order

You can change your priorities at any time in the preferences panel on the listings. The ranking updates immediately.
